There was a Green HZ at the all holden day this year that had a rear seat fitted.

A bloke I met at the ballarat holden day had a bench seat put in sideways. He said that it was easier to engineer that way, but I cant remember why..

I spoke about this to an engineer recently. Access is the biggest issue....... also need a roll cage. The pic above is probably the only way you would pass installing a back seat, legally....assuming he has built it correctly.

I wonder how you would go if you had Monaro buckets in an HQ?
I mean HQ Monaro buckets in the front, ie the ones that flip forward.

I saw this one at Ballarat as well, the benchy takes up a lot of room. The dickie seat I got is much smaller and lower with the seat belts built in. Does the sideways seat ease the engineering/access issue? Cheers, Jez

Yeah he did have this engineered. he said a mate of his did it for him and this was the only way he'd sign off on it. I cant remember why though.. he did tell me but I forgot what he said. Beer brained my broken... You might be right though, cos I think he did mention something about easy access/egress...

I enquired about putting seats in the back of my Hiace and to get it passed I needed to fit opening windows in the back.

Maybe because the seat runners line up with cross members under floor.

I've had the Van in for a quick 'tidy up' with some rust removed and some painting here and there. I'm really happy with the outcome, paint was matched up really well - I can't pick where it was blended.

I got a couple of sets of RTS rims from WA - 4 X 8 inch and 4 X 6 inch. Ended up fitting 8's all round but the back have a deep dish with outward offest and stick oout a little too far with the 265/50's, so will have to swap around and put 6's on front and get some new 225's.

A few other little bits and pieces to do in the short term. Hopefully get the decals on this week (was supposed to be last...) and then in for a road worthy next Monday and all going to plan, rego ready for Xmas.

Need a pair of bucket seats too. Not sure what type of seats in it at the moment but they are crap...

You know I was really 'hung up' about about getting a windowless van but since getting this one, I haven't really been that worried. Perhaps its just that I'm content with it at the moment and enjoying it as is, knowing that when I do a 'full job' on it in the future, that I will have the windows removed.

Looks good, must be nice to be close.
Good luck with the roadworthy and happy Christmas cruising.
