T5 might not be strong enough? What about a t56 6 speed? Any better?

Back again guys. Been doing a bit of research and the t56 may be an option for a manual with overdrive.? Any stronger than the t5 and the supra box's? Or can they be beefed up at all? Cheers guys. L31. I really want to give her hell on certain occasions, but still cruise well.????????????

T56 will need tunnel mods and Engineering as a result. You can buy an overdrive Muncie from the US.

Apparently the Tremec tr6060 was the replacement for the t56 and is even stronger , rated to over 800nm of torque. I take it your stroker is based on a turbo pattern block? Fitting may be expensive otherwise. Considering a Vz Clubsport engine/box wiring package can be picked up for $3000 these days you'd want to know all your costs before purchasing a box.

I read on the gmh-torana forum that a pre AU T5 will bolt straight up to a toploader pattern bellhousing with the stick out the factory hole and you won't have much trouble finding one of these bellhousings to suit a 4spd Holden V8 block. But apparantly these boxes are not all that good behind a larger V8 like 350ci.

Hmm. I've got a v8 single rail 4 speed behind a 308 using a dellow bell housing. Wonder if the single rail is the same pattern as the top loader? Mid 90s ford parts are cheap as chips so one of those t5's shouldn't be too hard to find.

Regarding the Top Loader vs Single rail/ T5, I'm pretty sure only one bolt is in the same spot, you'll need to mark and redrill the others. Most aftermarket bellhousings have extra thickness cast in the appropriate places, so its no biggie. the input shaft length and splines are the same on all, so overall its a pretty easy swap, cheers Pat
