What rim size?

I've just bought a HZ Sandman Van (I'm back in!)and wondering what size rims I should get? I've got 4 eagers on my Brougham that I'm looking to use which are 2 x 245/50s (bought brand new about 2 years ago) and 2 x 265/50s(80-90%). I was thinking widened GTS 7's and 8's with that tyre combo. Once upon a time I had that same combo under a HJ van which looked and sat well until cornering fast under brakes and the fronts would rub. Can't see myself doing that anymore, just a cruiser so should be right. Any comments/thoughts on that combo and the effect on ride? Cheers, Jez

Thats what im going to run when my van finally hits the road again the gts rims or hotwires havnt made my mind up yet but looking for that seventies look
as for the ride a good set of shocks and reset rear springs will help heaps

ive had 245 fronts and 265 rears on 7 1/2 inch GTs rims. Fronts look good but rears just balloon too much. so the 8-8.5 as the rear will probably make the tyre sit better on the rim. steering 245's is a nightmare though. I think ill go 215 or 225 fronts and 235/245 rears

i have got 225 on the front and 245 on the back both on 7 inch rims, no pwr str,
the 245 on the front are to hard to steer i reckon without pwr str, found it hard on steering gear aswell wears out quicker espiecally in tight car parks!

I'd agree, 215 or 225 max front on 6" and 245/60/14 rear on 7" or 8" if you have the right offset rims.

The van hs power steering so turning 245's shouldn't be too bad... Got my eye on these, hard to tell in the pics but dish doesn't look overly deep for 10's (black ones) so guess they have a greater inner offset.

The 245 & 265/50's would look awesome on these but not sure if they would fit under the guards, particularly the front!

With the right rim offset 245/50/15 fit the front fine on 7" rims as long as you don't lower it much. 265/50/14 may have a scrubbing issue on the rear.

With a rolled guard lip and correctly centred rim offset you will get 265/50/14 under the rear as low as you like. Get the offset wrong and fail to roll the guard lip and it will scrape.
A 265 should really be on a 9"+ rim. If you are going low 225/60/14 would be the best match for the 265/50/14 rears for steering and ride comfort.

I've just negotiated on 8 GTS rims, 2 pairs of 'reconditioned' of 7's (one pair in primer) and 8's (painted) to find out that they are actually 6's and 8's. As I mentioned earlier Ive got brand new 245/50's and 90% 265/50's. I'm in a bit of a quandy now... What do I do?

- Continue to buy the 4 x 6's and 4 x 8's, use both pairs of 8's with the 245's on the front and 265's on the rear. Will the 245's on 8's sit ok under the front?
- use the 6's and 8's. 8's as planned with the 265's, I doubt the 6's will fit the 245's so find some 225's?

I would sell what I don't use so can recoup some $'s, do I wait and be patient (not in my nature) and wait for some 7's an 8's.

i had 245s on an 8 inch rims on the front of my hz van no problem with scraping at all and wasnt to bad to turn either on the rear i had 8 inch rims as well but with 295s mickey thomspsons so 265s will be no problems at all
but i would put 6 front and 8rear that would look real cool
