    Haha. Yeah definitley Scott Ian.

I guess i better have a go at this thread...

I have always been into live music. Played bass in different bands, was a band manager, used to run festivals and was the band booker for a few melbourne venues for several years as well as rock DJing. So i still go see bands when i can be bothered. Particularly gotten back into eighties metal these days. (showing my age) But I just love it. Great fun songs about silly stuff like standing up for rock, chicks and owning the streets. Oh and owning the night a lot for some reason... Gotta love it. Saw Stryper last year. That was surprisingly awesome.

Worked backstage in musical theatre for about 10 years too, on all the big budget productions. So my hobby is getting back there and drinking beer with that gang when i can.

Also have 2 kids. A 5 year old and a 6 month old which keeps me busy. Have a few houses which also require work, and Im into my old holdens. Im a member of the ballarat early holden club too, and i have a HZ sandy, a VH SL/E and im just about to embark on learning how to paint my LX torana..

Like getting out into the country on days off with the family in tow, but when i get the sandy on the road i plan to take the daughter on random spontaneous camping trips just to get away easier and get her into camping.

Other stuff is just muckin around in the shed and trying to keep our massive garden under control.

One day i plan to get old and get into model railways. I reckon thatll be a fun zen hobby.

Oh and im a hawks supporter! Theres always next year....

    @ Vombil
......haha yeah sometimes they do, especially the little one(size of 50c). I try not to handle them to much, if at all. People just dont realize how fragile they really are. Its said that if they fall from a height thats triple their body height, its fatal for them. That Species 4 is fairly docile until shes spooked and then its game on......not keen on her fangs piercing my skin.....theyre about 20mm long so its a fair chance theyll hit bone if im bitten on the hand. And she aint one for interaction either
The little T's are the ones you have to watch.....recently got a male and female Goliath......the male darted across the island bench top in 1 second.....the bench top is about 2.4m long. The only thing that saved it, was me waiting for it to do the runner!!! Im a master at the chinese tub and just knew he was gonna do the dash!!!
The only one in my collection that requires a lock on its tank is my Pholgius PQ113......truly a freakin nut bag in every sense!!! Seriously, walk in the room and if its out of its hole, its up on its hind legs ready to strike. Im sure the previous owner mistreated the beautiful creature resulting in its violent temperament. Its quite stunning to look at, has the most amazing smokey blue/gray colouring!! This is her!!

@ Agro ..... have you got any inverts mate? Also have a couple of scorpions too.....Urodacus Flinders black rock and a Urodacus Flinders Range...their pretty cool. Feeding time is always pretty cool to watch

@ Rico & hainzy ... i take that as a compliment!! Scott Ian has the most crushing guitar tone!! But truth be told, i started growing the beard the day Dimebag Darrell died...in honour of him. Every year, me and a few mates get together and have a few 'black tooth' drinks and listen to Pantera and Damageplan! Still saddens me greatly .... met him once and was the nicest/coolest guy ive ever met..bar none!! What an absolute tragedy :(
Sometimes when we do gigs we break out the Dimebag guitars and play a Pantera track or two...the crowd loves it!!

Hey hainzy, im up in ballarat a few times a week....would be cool to catch up and shoot the shit!!!

Alien, are these tarantulas really tarantulas or Australian Huntsman, I was of the opinion they didn't bite, and were certainly not poisonous...the male prob did a runner because it might have been afraid the female would eat it after mating....or is that another breed of spider...they are interesting none the less....

    Hey Jennie

Yes, they are Australian Tarantulas. Huntsmen are a different genus all together. Huntsmen biting technique are like pincers where they squeeze....tarantulas are like funnel webs where they stab with a downward motion. The body on a huntsman is much more slender than tarantulas.....tarantulas are rather stocky and built like a body builder
Yes tarantulas do bite...very much so. Ive been tagged twice relocating a couple of my T's....luckily they werent to big, about 60mm leg span. Venom varies from species to species but on average, their venom is on par with bees!!! Some people react differently to bees than others and same with spider bites. Tarantulas are closely related to funnel webs, trap doors and mouse spiders......they havent changed in many thousands of years!

Here a mouse spider.....grim reaper on legs!! Im tempted to get one but their temperament is one not to be trusted or underestimated!! Venom is much higher in toxicity.

Sadly, the laws for keeping international species sucks. Heres a few that we will never be able to keep...much to my disappointment :(

Sorry, didnt answer your question properly.....the spider that did the runner was comfortable in its shipping container and wasnt interested in moving into his new home.......so he did the old jailbreak Havent given him the chance of setting up a romantic dinner for two with the female yet!!!

Hope that helped with your curiosity

@Alien Unfortunately i don't have any as the Mrs and kids don't like them.
I've got a pic of a big ar$e huntsman on my arm. Was quiet enjoying playing with it.

    --- Updated ---

I once tormented a male funnel web in my shed and got in trouble from the Mrs BECAUSE it was a funnel web!!!!!!

Agro .... my mrs doesnt mind them, that said, she needed a bit convincing at the start!
The kids find them a bit creepy, but educating them about their habits and how they eat and why they build webs is cool. My 7yr old daughter likes feeding time

Hahaha yeah, your mrs is probably right....funnel webs arent toys
