Would be interested in setting up a testing bench to see if mine ticks. Are tou willing to share your setup?
Its easy.. 12v supply connected to the the two terminals (one is for the lamp other is for the clock) Ground is the body (or the body tab)..

I replace both the electrolytic caps being careful to align the oscillator when replacing the PCB.
I have only found one that required a new Transistor, and one had a broken coil both these problems are fixable..
I Service and lubricate the clock Mechanism to ensure it is free moving
then bench test for 24hrs
I was thinking of Putting them on Ebay and offering a changeover service.. might be a good money spinner rather than just flogging them off..

Look great, what are you doing to get them going again? Replacing the capacitors, resistors and diodes?
Yes it's a bugger when bits are broken and you can't get replacements without robbing another gauge..... I am still trying to get the adjuster knob grub screw made as I have quite a few without them, have actually found a guy who says he can do them.... a pity Rare Spares were too half arsed to get them made... what good is a new knob without the grub screw to hold it on..... Oh... that's right... in typical Rares fashion they expect you to bodgy it to fit!!!!!

I may list one and see how much it goes for... (I sold one working a few years back for $380)
Maybe around $150 changeover .. not sure yet, they take a while to do.

Yea I have used low leakage caps rated @ 50v so they should handle things a little better than the 10v originals..

Just be prepared to get plenty of returns if you start an exchange setup. Replacing the caps fixes them, but they still dry out again and stop working.
