Use of pocket in lower dash?

Just wondering, what is the ACTUAL purpose of the pocket in the lower dash? (Under the radio)
I looked at putting my 8 track in there, but wondered what it was designed for.
I could always put a tape player/ stacker control unit, in there but it'll look out of place.

Hmmm. Who knows. Whatever you put in it falls out as soon as you press the accelerator.

These used to fit in there perfectly, nice and firm. They were good for, well.... I'll leave it up to your imagination...

Same here! except I used to skin my leg on the CB all the damn time!

Up to the individual what went in there, I never used it at all. Now at least in the newer utes, they have a lip on the rubber insert, so that whatever you use it for it stay's put.
