info on bedford 250 straight 6

a local fella came into work today to pick up some steel, turned out to be the town mayor and my old kindergarten teachers husband lol but anyway he was in this old bedford truck, not huge about a 4-4.5m tray on it, he showed me the motor and said it was a 250 straight 6, built in canada, it looked dead set like a red 202, the rocker cover may have been slightly wider, anyone have any info on these? i had a look on google but i didnt really shed much light, if he didnt say it was a 250 i would have said it was a 202, is theyre any compatabiltiy between the 250 and a 202, he said he cant find a oil filter for it becasue theyre not screw type like a 202 i wasnt sure if a 202 oil pump would be a straight swap, they looked very similar, dont know why but its really grabbed my attention, he said he was the second owner after his uncle with 37xxx miles bought new from the local dealer
    cheers

    Look like this bad boy?

There is a forum called the Bedford Users Group. They would probably have your answer.

Nothing off a Holden will fit mate, they are the engine that Gmh based their six cyl off.

I've got two Bedford trucks with those engines in them, they are a strong pulling engine, a lot longer stroke then the Gmh six cyl.

They are awesome engines. These and the 292ci varieties were fitted to GMH assembld Bedfords and C20/K20/C30 Chevs. A 292 will easily outperform a 350 in a C20 as a tow engine. They are a truck engine though, but like a 202 they can be made to go well. The bellhousing is the same as a Chev.
