go to Finley mueseum in NSW, they have heaps of engines their, all or most of them running, i really like the commer knocker supercharged engines, but they had a blaxland straight eight there which was about 8-10 feet tall, they are only to happy to fire them all up for you, great day if your into that stuff

Commer knockers are two stroke diesel, with two crank shafts and the pistons fire against each other, bit like a flat four but with the pistons running in the opposite direction. Two stroke diesels need the super charger to run. They put a GM two stroke to shame when it comes to the "screaming" part lol! Our neighbour had one and you could hear it about 5km away when it was pulling a load out of the paddock.

Yeap you have got to love the sound of a 2 stroke diesel, i tried to talk my oldman into putting an 8v-92 into our old boat but he went for a 6bt cummins, mind you still sounds nice espiecally when the turbo kicks in.

I started collecting them when I was 17. Got a good collection of them with an old uncle. (about 30 altogether) Got shafted big time when he passed away. His son in law claimed most of them. I managed to keep 9 of them. I've got a 1920's 2 stroke Sunshine. Made in Sunshine in Victoria. 2 HP and weighs about 60 kilos.
