Decided to go through my old Unique Cars magazines and play "spot the Sandman" and will keep posting as and when I find them. Hopefully will have a few to post over the coming weeks.

Here is another one from mid 1988. When compared to the HJ above, it was almost double in price......but it was a trophy winning show car. In that same edition, $9,500 ono could have bought you a mint factory 350 HG Monaro in indy orange with 85,000 miles on the clock and full history.

When you think about it in context with new car prices at the time, a new run-out model VL executive was around $19K delivered if I remember correctly... Fast forward to now, to pay $20K for a van (or whatever you're looking at) still puts it at or around the same value - around half what a new base line car is priced at.
If that makes sense.... ;-)

Pretty rare HK Monaro too to be a 186S and 4spd. Almost every 6cyl HK Monaro I have ever seen has been 3spd, 3spd synchro or powerglide and all column shift. Nick Gontas's Pinaroo Beige HK Monaro is a pretty rare M20 4spd car but it is just a 186, not a 186S. They will turn up, but nice to know that one existed back then! That is if it was even factory, it may well have been changed and had an Aussie 4spd put in it!Originally Posted by sandman77hx

I also spotted the Benz front van for sale for $12,500 in 1997 so looks as though it may have changed hands a couple of times in a relatively short period of time.
