there are 4 types for HQ AFAIK, i am not 100% sure
    HQ SS
    HQ BELmont
    HQ GTS
    HQ Sandman
there are 10 types for HJ-HZ AFAIK ??
    HJXZ Belmont / Kingswood
    HJXZ Sandman / GTS
    HJXZ stato

From what I can see, the difference between Belmont, Kingswood, Premier, GTS and Sandman is the colour they are painted and the badging.

Belmont, Holden appear to be the plain grey moulded plastic .... Kingswood, Premier are painted silver ... GTS, Sandman are painted black. (exc. HQ)

I have heard rumours that the GTS and Sandman grills were actually moulded in black plastic but I am yet to see an actual black plastic grill... if anyone has a black grill that is actually black plastic could you please post up some pictures of it.

If you are not going to use the black grill off the red HZ can I buy it off you? I am interested to see one moulded from black plastic and am interested in seeing if a broken one can be successfully repaired so yours would be perfect.

Thanks Jennie that would be great. I am on the South side but head up around Morayfield quite often for work so can arrange a time to pick it up. Much appreciated, it will be an interesting project.

    Gday,

Yes, they can be repaired however, would never be as strong as the original moulding unless your beefed it up conciderably (Recommended) otherwise, hitting a bird at 100k's is sure to ruin your handywork. The weakest point I've found on mine is the 4 circular mounts on each corner.

Also, you forgot to mention the most important grill of all! The BBQ grill! Hehe

    Cheers

when you start going thru those part numbers it is very confusing for people that havent had much experience..

in the hj it lists 2 upper grilles..one for deville and one for caprice but only one lower unlike the listings for hx and hz.
the upper grille was the same but for the caprice they only had 2 end mouldings with no upper grille moulding on the grille itself..the moulding for caprice in hj hx and hz was a diecast chrome part that actually bolted onto the top apron and overlapped the top of the grille...

in hx and hz for statesman deville and caprice the grilles were the same as each other but again the caprice got the big diecast bit....other differences was only colours of grille slats..

as for hq its the same grille with different paint combinations unless its a statesman..

i have never seen a black plastic moulded hq grille,i have however seen a very dark grey ...
