^^Les that is the official line, but their main interest/intention is with rebirthing, fraud and compliance with ADR's, not someone trying to fix up an original tag.

Good news on the ute quarters. Just check here with the panel savvy blokes before going into full production as you'd want to make sure they are made to suit all series and also that they'll fit both utes and vans.

We have bought a lot through Harrison's early spares they have a lot of good stuff especially door rubbers and tailgate rubbers. I do however think it is best to buy directly from them (in the shop) as phone orders do get waylaid we have found from experience.

When our Sandman was at the panel shop for restoration, the first thing they did was take the tags of the car and put them in a safe place. Thieves are less likely to steal the car without the tags and the tags themselves are subject to theft.

Looks like he's breaking the law? Does it actually cover the removal of tags and re-fitting to the same car? How can restoring a tag be illegal? Surely its the act of tampering with intent to miss lead that is the crime. Any way all these court cases about re-birthing have been civil cases where people are looking for restitution, not criminal cases.

So if you restore this tag - there is no deception, hence no crime?

That is the common sense view, but it is still supposedly illegal to remove the ADR tag from the body.

yet strangely they issue police numbers if you have no tags on the vehicle - typical double standards

I don't think you get Police numbers with no tags, as long as the chassis and engine numbers are there you can register it.
