WB van body on HJ Chassis...any differences??

Hi all, I have the chance to buy a mint WB windowless body to reshell my HJ van (thats been cut down to a ute), was wondering if the are any sheet metal differences or other things that I should consider before I shell out for it?

Im pretty sure that the scuttle panel (below Windscreen) is different (won't line up with bonnet) but can live with changing them.

Will be built to a high quality original condition, don't want to stuff up by picking the wrong body,

    Anything I've missed???

    Cheers

Cowl is the same. Biggest differences are:

Firewall (wiring plug, clutch mechanism attachment stud and big hole for clutch cable).
Rear quarters (no 1/4 lights which you must have legally if you fit HQ-HZ rear lights).
Seat holes and captive nuts in floor (are in different spots to HQ-HZ).
    Wiper/washer holes in the cowl.

WB also has dual clutch pedal pivot points, just use the bottom one.

Also watch for metric threads on WB

The firewall is different... the clutch mechanism, the plug for the engine harness etc... So unless you are thinking of changing the entire firewall panel with the cowel panel its going to be more WB than HJ.

I personally would look for a good HJ shell from the same plant if you are going to go to all that trouble. The rear design for the HJ full headlining is unique for a HJ Sandman Panelvan as there was no Kingy PV in HJ. So unless you get another Sandman shell you are going to have to improvise there as well.

    Great points,

Didn't WB also have vents in the panels behind the door windows???

    Cheers.

I think that was early HQ with the vents.

Isnt there something different in the wiper pivot positions?

If there is i've never spotted it. The firewall isn't all that hard to change (GMH did it to all the HJ coupe shells that were left to make them into HX's). The steering column support that the clutch and brake pedals bolt to has to be changed, too plus the front floor modded for the earlier seats.

I'd use the WB turret on the HJ shell.

I suppose. It mustn't of been that drastic to cut a van down to a ute with the roof etc.... I guess the reverse would only be marginally harder.
