    Early HZ Sandman??

Hey guys, A mate came across this on the weekend. He took some photos but they're not great.

I went and checked it out and got these numbers.

    HZ8WM70
    Trim: 1934 67v
    Paint: 567-30525
    L32 M20 GV7 11/77
    Seating Cap 2

Van is Blue, has no GTS gaurds. No dash at all but I did find a non GTS dash facia in the back.
It had a full headlining, was previously decked out in the back, but is pretty sad.
I'm suss as there is no mounting brackets for a centre console. Nothing at all. No grinder marks or anything.
Anyway, Thought I'd run it by the experts?

It certainly looks like HZ Sandman paint. You'd need to get me more ID or the photos of the ID plates to know for certain. If it is a HZ Holden van with full headlining it basically has to be a Sandman unless someone has put Holden tags on a Kingswood shell. I'd really love the ID for the database as if it is in Victoria it'll probably be a Dandenong car and i'm currently adding ALL Dandenong HZ's to the database, so chassis number, GVW and TRIM line is very important to that process.

Yeah, realised after I left that I didn't get all the info. I'll sneak back out and get the rest for you. I'll take my camera this time. Luckily, it's quite local to me. Not really sure how I never came across it before. I'll have a word to my boss and find out who owns the property and pay them a visit. I reckon my panel beater said something about a Sandman sitting in a paddock locally that is definatelty NOT for sale, but it can't hurt to ask.
Body is in very good condition.

HZ won't have GTS guards anyway. That one has plenty of blackouts and even has the cutouts for the front air dam in a twin headlight nose. Couple that with being a metallic colour and its looking pretty good. Either that or it was a real good replica.

Why no console mounting point?? That was the major point that threw me...

Might have been converted to a bench seat at some stage cause they wanted an extra seat.

Sorry it's been so long. Got some more photos. Two of the floor and two tags. Hope it helps.

I think it will have been one. It is a factory 4spd body, and I think I can just see evidence if where the front mount was for the console, plus where the rear mount was. May even be grinder cut-off wheel marks where they've cut through the welds on the rear one. Being a HZ Holden van and having a full headlining means it really has to be a Sandman, it'll be an XU3 though.

I just got very excited when I recorded this. It is one of a consecutive set of VIN/PSN's I have recorded now:

    8M70RHL398785Z
    8M70RHL398786Z
    8M70THL398787Z

They are not consecutive cars on the line as chassis numbers aren't consecutive (26, 49 and 97) but they entered the rolling schedule as consecutive cars! All different colours and trim too, which is probably why they aren't consecutive production.

Yes very exciting indeed to have them as consecutive numbers. Coincidence or did one dealer submit an order for 3 and the paperwork came through together?
