    My 1979 HZ ute

G'day folks. Here's some photos of my 1979 HZ ute. The car is largely original and still with the original paint, excepting a few tray interior quarter panels and the nosecone. As far as I can determine, this one is a bare bones base model with no optional extras. It has a HX high compression 202 in it with a column shift trimatic, bench seat, tan trim, anyhow I'll let the pics tell the story:

These photos were all taken before I got it into the garage and started taking the front apart to repair the damage. I will add more up to date photos and photos of markings, date stamps, etc later on.

    Cheers, Evan.

Nice HZ Evan. Welcome to the site! I also have a 79 HZ holden ute. Looks like yours is pretty good for rust. Much easier to fix the front damage than plate and bog rust!! Look forward to some progress pics

This is the latest HZ from Acacia Ridge I have yet to record, only the second K coded (1980) HZ from that plant and also only the second wrap around PSN on a HZ from that plant. It isn't totally bare bones, a trimatic was a pretty big option in those days, and a sensible one if you wanted to do any towing!

Thanks folks. I've been floating around the forum for a while and already found a wealth of information and other cool cars. HK1837, thank you for that bit of info. The selection of the Trimatic makes sense as this ute definitely was a farm vehicle prior to my purchasing it. I'll post some more photos later tonight.

Latest progress. After some panel beating of the front quarters, the new nosecone was trial fitted. Fit was not too bad but still needs much work done.

Well the project is looking nice but have you decided what you have done it? Have you seen any other truck which inspired you and you wanna make this like that? Anyhow I hope you think the best. Please post the photos when you complete it. I will wait for it.

Sorry about the glacially slow reply Calvert08. My plan is to keep it looking standard apart from Kingswood B pillar and gutter trims, window sill trims and Sandman Blackouts (the latter inspired by this site of all the places). I'll upload some photos shortly of all that has happened since my last posting here.

    Evan.
