    Upper tailgate brackets

The brackets on my upper tailgate have developed some play after attempting to install some gas struts. Are these supposed to be welded in and stiff, or is a little play allowed from the factory?

I am talking about the bit where the slides attach on the actual moving tailgate part.

I have given up on the gas struts now as I need to get the van ready for coolie rocks on and don't want to muck around so I am just putting the original slides back in, but the drivers side bracket has become very very loose. I think it would come out without too much encouragement.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Weld? Sikaflex?

    Thanks,

    Dave

yes thats what I'm talking about ozbox. I'll get it welded up then. Does that involve removing the glass and welding between the skins?

TwoTees has a great post in his shed but it refers to the lower tailgate hinges, still some good tips in there.
