I was pretty diggered coz its a combo id love to have had

same giveaways as you mentioned but the black door handles did it for me... oh and he said it was m70 and 18V over the phone
i think i first looked at it in late Jan i think, gave ID to Bryon..... kept in touch every now and then.....and i sold a car this morning and had a fist full of cash so i went around and made and offer. Yeah it needs the plenums done and a few bubbles here and there...motor and box out no problem, just means its cheaper to me.

surprised you didn't put a link to it after you decided it was no go?

Last HX sandman van I bought was 308 T400 running, driving, 100% complete and unlic but dead straight. had a fair whack less rust than that papaya one and i paid $1700. I couldnt bring myself to part with anything close to what he was asking.

as i said i was like a fat kid in a chocolate shop when i spotted it but was so bloody gutted when i got there. I didnt want to blow the trumpet because the owner didnt know it was a sandie. if he found out, he probably would of doubled his price!

did you go suss the Red HX Van with 350 chev? thoughts?

hahah mate after doing a few 'baby restos' now ive come to realise i'd almost rather a belmont with no rust than a rusty bent and molested sandman that some punk tells you isn't genuine because holden told him it needs to have XX7 on the tags. ahhh feel better to get that off my chest

Everyone is an expert when it comes to Sandmans. "Cause their brother had one. Same colour as yours, but his didn't have windows in the side" haha

Any and all Holdens are worth doing up. (Well, 84 and earlier) I'd be glad to have a van that isn't a Sandman so I could play with it and make it interesting. There are some unwritten guidelines as to what you should and shouldn't do to 'classic' cars. Have possibly sourced an LS1 for the HQ! Not doing that to the van...
