To answer the first question before any of the above I start by looking for black faded door handles for some reason I've found these rarely get changed and blackout or evidence of blackouts .then I proceed with all the above,

yeah id agree with that. the door handles is one of the big check boxes for me. its an general oversight unlike all the attention given to door light switches which are probably easier to fake than correct door handles!

i reckon you could get side windows cut in at factory in any model sandman...
BQZ
I wouldn't be looking for a HX in the first place so it doesn't really matter
You cut me deep Nelan!!! DEEP!!!!
Kingswood trim for black or red trim (18V or 65A).
Rear headlining side strips (and rear) is the only reliable one if the others are in place (2 seat capacity, console shift). Everything else can be changed.
GVW is a good help if you are looking at an XX7, but in HX there is no unique-to-Sandman GVW
1.GVW
2.Seating
3. GTS Dash
Origianl Books with car..
Everyone keeps saying GVW, but remember Sandman has no different GVW to a normal ute or van (2155kg 6cyl, 2200kg V8), it never did (XX7 up until 10/75 then XU3). It is only if the post 10/75 Sandman is optioned with passenger tyres that the GVW gets de-rated (XX7 post 10/75), BUT this was available across the board on HJ, HX and HZ vans and utes, not just Sandman AND only on 1978 and 1979 HZ does the XX7 Sandman get a unique GVW. For HJ and HX it is the same for XX7 and XU4. So a lower GVW is just like interior light door switches, it was optional on all HX HOLDEN utes and vans.
