Was talking to a guy yesterday who said he had bought a repro ignition and lock set from Kingswood country in Vic and it fell apart it was replaced and same thing happened, he eventually got some originals re-coded. Has anyone bought a set from Rares or else where that they can reccommend, their are quiet a few repo ones floating around on ebay.
I bought two repro door locks from Rares and so far in ~4 years have had no problems at all with them, can't comment on ignition locks...
I have been told the ignition locks are not the best from rares mate bought one not happy with them so i found him a NOS one all good now
I got the door lock and ignition barrel set for mine from rares here in adelaide.
Been on the daily driven van since September last year with zero issues.
from my experiance here at rares the locks are very hit and miss depending on the batch, these are all bought in and as far as im aware are all the same brand no mater where you buy them, they arnt a rares product we just sell them.
we are attempting to remake alot of the locks in a much better quality then whats available currently
if you buy a repro lock and its still good after one day they are generally great for life but some tend to lock up and wont move from its parked position which i generally check by turning it a fair few times as the customers buying them over the counter and seeing how they feel, ive had 1 customer that had 3 fail in the space of 3 days then the 4th has been going fine for the last year etc
hopefully we get the new repros soon to avoid any potential issues
We bought rares door locks and ignition barrel for the yellow van when we first bought it so it could be locked. They are all fine and still working now.
Can the standard door locks and ignition barrel be rebuilt?
