    Hidden Radio's

I've been thinking about leaving the old radio in place in the dash and hiding a current model headset under the dash. The other thought is to just have an IPOD that hooks up to hidden speakers and not worry about a radio. Has anyone done something similar to this?

A mate of mine has one that reads an SD card hidden in the glovebox of his Torana. It doesn't have the depth of a CD player due to it not needing to fit a CD in it.

iPod headphone jack to a pair of RCA leads. Wire this to a good amp then to your speakers. No need for a cd player/head unit at all. Can still keep factory radio this way.

They make remote face UHF radios, shame they don't do the same for head units. My JVC head unit connects to my iPhone iPod via the bluetooth hands free connection. So no wire needed to hook up at all. Theoretically you could put the head unit in the glove box and the iPod in your pocket.

I would like to see other peoples creative ideas for this as well.

I have obtained the HQ dash with the orig radio and rear side panels without speaker holes for mine. I was going to hide a stereo somehow and have an ipod cable poking into the rear cavity of the HQ console. Most installtions in the glove box I have seen cause the insides to fallout.

I made a bracket up for the stereo and put Velcro on the underside and placed it on the carpet under the drivers seat. I point the remote at the brake clutch pedal and all works fine. Wiring is totally hidden. Not worried about it getting knocked off as the car never gets left anywhere. I also hid decent speakers in the original covers.

I bought from the USA a Radio Link. It is an ipod/mp3 player to old am car radio adaptor. You turn on your am radio which turns on the radio link (black box) which turns on your portable mp3/ipod player. I have not hooked it up yet as none of my cars are going, but worth a look at www.woodyscustomshop.com look for the custom audio solution link:nevreness:
