Just wondering where the 8 tracks were installed BEFORE HZ SLE???
I know that on the SLE's had a special spot in the centre console, but not sure about USUAL fitment in HJ & HX statesmans.
Pics to support this would be FANTASTIC!!!!

Here's a HJ Caprice that seems to have that console too. Can't see if the 8 track is there though.

my hx statesman had the 8 track fitted in it. may have been an option at the end of the run maybe. had all the gen wieing to it. was the last of the run as well.
That's the standard Caprice console, LE & SLE were built as the equivalent models, LE was virtually a 2 door Caprice (fitted with nearly every luxury option available) and SLE used Caprice model code 8WT as thus far my research has shown that only SLE's were built after production of the long wheelbase cars moved to Elizabeth after June 79. It looks as though Statesman/Caprice production ended in Mar 79 when Pagewood ceased making HZ's.
Did your Statesman get the Caprice console or was it put under the dash? Next question were they a factory or dealer option?
