Our friend in Orange's HJ sandman

This is a HJ Sandman whcih was also bought from an original owner, with original manual this van had been sheded on a farm...it has been fully restored to original condition, i thought you all might be interested in these pics.

I know this is an older thread but I find it really funny that two people could have the same interests. I too have a HJ Sandman and exactly the same horse drawn grader that is in the back ground. Now that is very freaky!!!

Good old Ct90 or CT110. We bored and stroked these in the 80's as big as 310cc!

And I have a Sandman and Postie bike too. I rode my postie Bike from Brisbain to Alice springs on a Postie Bash and reached the conclusion that it wouldnt be my future coice for such a trip. Maybe the Sandman?

i only said i owned one, i didnt ride it,i bought it for my wife to get her bike license on.

I can only imagine what one would have been like with the 310cc stroker engine! We built them for Honda ATC90 trikes. XL175 head and barrel. Crankcase spaced apart by about 10mm and XL125 crank fitted. Big bore kit on the XL175 top end saw them as high as 310cc. I had a 250cc version, ran on Methanol to keep it cool, had a carb off a 750/4 on it. Used to tear the rims out of the tyres, which was a problem with the original ATC90 tyres as the rim was vulcanised to the tyre! Damn scary things, easy 60mph and no suspension. Scared me too much, I ended up building a few suspended trikes out of XL185S and XR250 bikes.
