I'm taking the gas system off my 253 and was wondering would it be better to get a new or rebuilt carby or put a kit through the old one? The carby that's on it is a quadrajet. What carby would be best to put on it?

the minimum would be to put a fuelmeiser kit through the carby... if the car was dual fuel and mainly used on gas then you would end up with issues in the long run by using the carby as is...
I bought a carby rebuilt from MLP carbies in melboure.... they did a cracker of a job.... rebuilt my carby for $200... a fuelmiser carby kit is about $80 from any auto parts store
cheers

Thanks Al, is there anything else that I should do to the engine eg: fuel pump, or the fuel lines as I don't know the last time it ran on fuel.
Thanks Shan.
i had a duelly and it had been sitting for a while. pump dried out. id just do one. $70-80 bucks and your safe. after buying a new 600 holley new off the shelf for 350 and then have it choke up within the first 100kms id stick with having your existing carby rebuilt
