Extra back seats in a panno....

Has anyone ever seen a panno with back seats before? I was thinkin about doin it years ago, and i put a bench seat in my old HQ to drive with 3 of us, but not so keen to make major changes to the sandman. Now we have 2 kids and maybe im 'holden' on to the dream a bit too hard but itd be so cool to go on family holidays in the sandman.... Maybe somethng that would only require some bolt holes and reinfocements.

    Like this -

Not somethng as major/structural as this -

Anyone know of anyone ever doing it?

Considering my VH EFI conversion engineers cert just cost me $1200, I dont imagine it'd be cheap....

I think you have to have windows to do this, but unsure of the ruling. I know the Green sandman I saw at the all holden day had a babyseat fitted in the rear, and there were no windows in that van, not sure if that was legal or not. (was also the van used in the 2nd Underbelly series)

I've seen jap cr@p passenger side bench seats fitted in the back of vans. Seatbelts would require Engineering though.

I think the ones you see are pre-HQ vans like a HK/G/T. I believe those commercials had the same floor pan as the station wagon under the floor. This means there is somewhere to put your feet when you sit on the seat.

    USED to!!
It was out of a TR Magna, and has it's own seatbelts attached.
It had to have plates put under the floor, where the mounting points are.
Windows weren't an issue but bench seat would have been (if i had one).
If there were bucket seats with a centre console, the seat mechanism's of a coupe had to be used for access to the rear seat.
BUT if there was no centre console, the flip mechanism's didn't have to be used.

    Hope this helps a bit.

I used to have a pair of Gemini buckets in the back of mine facing rearward. Had retractable seatbelts and everything but never got it engineered. Just used to pull them out every year for rego inspection.

this is he best thing to start with as it has the belts built in so it saves a lot of hassle

im looking at doing something like that myself

usually have to have an opening window in the row in front so as long as you only put one row in yu should be ok
