A mere technicality, my ute is a vz and I call it a commodore ute. Everyone know's what you are talking about, because it's a ute based on the model of whatever commodore is available at that time.

"Proud To Be An Old Fart".
geeze if you wanna get picky a ve's still a commodore to me, even when idiots put bloody chev badges on them
If you call a VU-VE ute a Commodore then you have to call Monaro, Calais and Statesman a Commodore as well. They are definitely not. It is no different to people incorrectly calling all HK-WB vehicles Kingswoods. Or calling a Sunbird a Torana. Or calling HSV vehicles Commodores.
Currently afaik the only Commodores are Omega, Berlina and SS.
owell ill still call it a commodore ute, the monaro and stato i wouldnt call a commodore becasue theyre a notciably different body shape, anyway doesnt matter someone told me holdens not making a statesman anymore only a caprice?? anyone else heard the same, actually more to the point what are you looking at james??
VU ute was basically as much different to a VX Commodore as a V2 Monaro was.
You may be right on Caprice. I'm not sure though.
Is the current ute still based on the old station wagon platform?
I remember the VE sportswagon was based on the sedan wheelbase. Not sure what they did with the ute. Most of them all have independant rear ends, except for VY and VZ tonners and crewman which have leaf springs.
Anyway, not much interest in the old HX. might put it on ebay and see how it goes.
