Paint for Engine Parts

Spent yesterday washing up & sand blasting various parts for my HDT HZ van replica. Remebering HDT's van was a HZ Sandman Now I want to give the bare parts a coat of paint before I store them away. Most parts look like they where painted matt black which is easy enough but I really would like to know whether the air cleaners where a matt finish or a gloss finish. Any help with the paint finish would be greatly appreciated

I think they were a semi gloss. Not matt black. My WB one is not real shiny but not matt either and it is original paint.

Thanks for that wbute. I also need to know what the colour is for the engine itself? I'll paint the engine with a VHT spary can but would like to know what colour is closest to the correct colour.

I think you should be able to get chevy orange in cans

Rocket Red type 2. Note that HJ onwards engines had a gloss clear sprayed over them to make them look better too.
