Hi Everyone,
I used to be the very proud owner of one of the very first Absinth Yellow HX Sandman’s sold in western Sydney back in 1976, just after I first started my apprenticeship.
I originally saw a story in a car magazine at the time comparing the then HJ Sandman to the old MG TC, insinuating that it was the modern day equivalent of the old MG for popularity.
I had just come back from a holiday to the Northern Territory with my dad, and thought then it would be great to have a Sandman to travel around the country in.
Luckily for me, this was just on the cusp of the panelvan boom of the mid 1970’s and all the fringe benefits that went with it. (Hee, Hee!)
When I went to look around, I found what was to become my HX Sandman sitting in Hillsdons Holden showroom in Parramatta, and I then soon became a very poor apprentice for 4 years paying back the bank.
Sadly, after many years of fun and memories it was sold in 1989, and I still dream about it today.
I am currently selling some GM Holden parts that I originally purchased in the mid 1980’s from Hillsdons Holden in Parramatta just before they closed down.
Most of the parts were to suit my dads 1979 HZ SLE Statesman, with the balance for my 1976 HX Sandman but were never used, and are all in perfect mint as new condition.
Some of the items I have started to advertise on www.Gumtree.com.au for sale, but I have yet to do the others just yet because of Christmas coming so soon.
I have pictures and lists of everything if anyone is interested and I can email you some if required.
I hope to hear from you all soon and thanks again for your time.
