    Tightening GTS mirrors...?

Hi all. Most of the vans ive ever had have suffered from the ol mirror flop at some stage. My last van ended up with tech screws jammed conveniently in there...

Im trying to keep this HZ a litttle tidier though, and my mirrors are floppier than an old mans... (well this is a kid friendly forum.. ahem)

Now i dont mean the chrome bits, which also sag. Im meaning the actual mirror itself. Basically the ball joint itself seems loose so the body sits nice but the mirror flops around..

Anyway ive got a few spares here in pieces but i still cant see how the ball joint can be tightened to fix the mirrors..

So aside from some GTS viagra, does anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers.

If your talking about what I think your talking about, Loctite works wonders.

Just make sure its in 100% the right spot because you wont be moving it.

Thanks mate. Yeah i was thinking it might come to something like that. Do you have to get the ball joint pivot out and get the loctite inside, or can you just randomly splosh it around the ball joint area?

    Hainzy,

Obviously the chrome post part is tight, but have you tightened the lock nut that goes into the top of the post part (is on the thread that comes off the ball in the back of the mirror?)

My mirror, as in the glass, is tight, but the chrome pivot to base plate is loose! I've pulled it off and put in a thin plastic shim but it was only a short term fix! Anyone else come up with a long term solution for this problem?

Gday Steve. No i havent done that. I noticed there was something inside the post where it joins the mirror body. Theres a hole but I couldnt see any screws/nuts in there. Is that wat youre talking about?

Im at work at the moment but ill have a look tonight and check that out. Thanks mate.
