    panels where windows were!

ive recently bought a 1982 wb van, in decent order. it has the four windows in the sides, two on each side. while i dont mind the look of the windows i really prefer and think they look alot smoother and tougher without windows and just panel the whole way through. does anyone know of any pictures or walkthroughs that people have done to show me ways of doing this?
    please help!:Chin:

I have windows on my Sandman (two to be precise) which i'm not big on. Sometime down the track i'm gonna have them covered up but I'm gonna make sure it's done by someone who knows what they're doing. Too many horror stories.

My advice would find someone professional (preferably someone who's done it before, numerous times). I wouldn't be touching it, even if I knew how to do it. Too bloody hard! :lol

I have seen over the years one or two vans, including jap boxes, that had a pressed metal panel put in place of the glass, seal and all. quite often the panels had a slight dish shape to give rigidity, and I know toyota at one stage did supply vans with them with a view that if people wanted glass, it was easier to change them over. i dunno....maybee I was smokin some good gear back then too, but I'm sure I saw the same being used in all Aussie panel vans, but quite rare.

You can glue panels in to fill it for an easier DIY option that won't risk warpage. Being a non-sandman it won't devalue it and a nice rear interior upholstery job will hide any evidence.
