Expressions of Interest - Van Run to Bathurst - 10th/11th March, 2012

Hey Guys & Girls, just wanted to gauge the amount of interest out there for a overnight stay up at Bathurst next year. As one of only two van enthusiasts from NSW to have subjective themselves to the "torture" of co-ordinating a Van Nats twice (some people never learn), I need to head up that way before flying over to WA for the 2012 Van Nats south of Perth. There is a small possibility that the event could be staged at Bathurst in the future.

My philosphy on vanning is to get as many vans in one place, at the one time, at least once a year. That is why you will always find me at the Van Nats every year - with or without a van. Maybe its time for that philosphy to be applied at the state level.

After being around vanning for many years, I used to think I knew what most van enthusiasts wanted. However, now I am not so sure.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

That sounds like a great idea, have you locked in that date, as we already have something on that weekend which I can't change atm...Bathurst is 1.5hours from where we are so would be awesome to get together there....

Good call on Bathurst Fres. Not just because I'm only 40 minutes away, I would personally enjoy a cruise for a couple of hours with a few other vans, so I might just go the long way round.
Bathurst is a central point for a good lot of half interested van owners that you wouldn't otherwise see in the big smokes. Time, distance and dislike of city running could be reasons a lot of vanners keep their vehicles west of the sandstone curtain. For the regulars, she would be a good drive down from north or up from south and keep on the inland trails with plenty of chances to tag up and convoy along the way.
No shortage of stuff on to do in Bathurst. You have The Mount, museum, good shops, back-road cruises to country pubs and good accommodation. The town is well trialed for motoring enthusiast groups.
I recon one of the highlights of such an event would be drawing out some of the country vans that you very rarely see.

I've got it marked on the calendar.
Just hope the van will be back together in time.

25th / 26th Feb may be an option, but I would have to check around.
Ten vans would be nice. 14 vans together is the most I've seen in NSW since 2004, (apart from 2006 Van Nats)

Sorry that weekend of the 25th we have to go to Wangaratta, for an 80'th party, yay, taking Rodney's parents. So leave the 10th March we are at Wyangla dam for the weekend, which is 1 hour from Bathurst, we can leave the Hammond weekend, which is where we will be, and go Saturday for the day to Bathurst...and come back to Cowra I think the main day for the Hammond boat reunion is Sunday anyways....Too many old boat and van things to do....but this is a good thing...
