I'd imagine that the linkages would still go across in front of the gearbox.
Other alternative is to make it a cable shifter (Thought has crossed my mind for my van).
I've seen one done and have pics of it somewhere.

It will only be off the road for less than a week when i do the dash and rust repairs as it's my daily driver for work now - providing no major issues arise
even when i do the motor rebuild (or swap) ill try and make it a weekend job
There are a few ways to do it. You could modify a HQ-HZ coloumn shift TH400 setup to suit. Or have a look at what Brett Ferguson did here with a V6 and TH700R4 into a HZ.

That's awesome, thanks HK - looks like i may do the EFI then since it's so straight forward
I assume the TH700 fits the tunnel without any issues?

Yeah, it's pretty good for the money i spent and drives great but i really want to get the power steering fitted (im getting old)

Put it on the hoist today at my mates exhaust shop and had a good look under it
Couldnt find any rust in the chassis at all which is great and i was told it had a very small hole undr pass floor which youd be lucky to get a cigarette through
Thought i did find a slightly larger bit on the drivers side. Still nothing too much so alls good

Want to get an archway in in the next week or two as well if i can

Any tips from people before i try it?

My WB van has column shift with the v6 and t700. If you want pics or anything, let us know.

I'll add though, that I didn't do the conversion, was in there when I got it.

ok, so ive taken the wheels off and fitted some Globes that are on loan from a mate
plan on painting them and putting newer rubber on
might even fit some Commodore wheels yet - not 100% sure

putting mods on hold and trying to find a complete WB stato at the right price since it will end up cheaper

been busy so i havent had a chance to do anything but got some time thisarvo so i pulled the stickers off and stripped the old tints etc off and put some new stuff on

put 5% n the front doors / 15% blue mirror chrome on the rear gate / mirror on the cargos
gave it a bit of a wash and it looks a little better now

going to polish the chrome work during the week and tint the front screen ;)
