Beach Bop Cronulla, NSW 19-20th November 2011

    So late notice.
I only found out about this today.
    beachbop.com.au
Promoted as a Beach/ panel van & Kombi event.
The info in the paper said "until late", so I got down there about 5.30pm to see a couple of cars cruising, then dissappearing home.
The oval had about 7-8 cars left.
There was one "sandman", WB taillights, no flutes, bench seat, base model dash and wheel, no hood lining, no blackouts etc but a sandman sticker.
    Back to the story.
Maybe it's an event worth attending next year.
Maybe get some real ones "or at least more than one HQ-WB panel van" down there.
I'll probably head down tomorrow and have a better look, but I'm not that modivated to take the van down.

Saw about that in Sunday's Telegraph but was at a large family get together at Forster on w.e funny thing was their comment was "how dare a sandman other than ours grace the papers" my brother lives at oatley (very near) so if it is on next year we will be there....

I loved that film it depicted what our lives were like in the day to the Tee...the only difference with us was we were in the country, but the mentality of youth was depicted very accurately....(some of the bits were a bit exaggerated though)

Yea Jennie. Did you ever tell Rodney he is a 'dead set spunk'? So sad we lost some of the lingo from back then.

i also used to live just up the street from where a lot of FJ Holden was filmed

The house in Strepham Street that the girl lived in was my footy coaches (from 1977) mums house and we had out christmas party there and a grl i went skating with lived next door (backs directly onto Picnic Point High)

we all use to go down Revesby Beach in the 80s (where they both sagged her in the back of the car) with all the vans and back them all into a circle of up to 15 sometimes

The old story to get a girl down there was to ask if they wanted to see the luminus ducks or the submarine races
Can you believe it actually worked sometimes

Oh, and then a guy i played darts with in the 80s helped with all the cars from running on empty (best movie ever) and showed me pics that he took of Fox, the XY and the 57

Then there's m mate around the corner that is a GM specialist whodid a 502 conversion on one of the chev trucks they're using as a camera rig for Mad Max 4
He also did work on other vehicles for thm as well
Got a pic of the truck here somewhere

I eem to keep getting linked in one way or another to Aussie movies

actually, we should try and arrange a special drive in night for the 30th Anniversary or Running On Empty for next year
