Mook's Bargain Bin

Taking on Blockers suggestion of starting a thread where people can gloat about their bargain finds and to make others feel as though they are getting ripped off..

Let the bragging begin.

Todays Bargain!! went into REPCO to buy a big jack for the shed so I can get under the Van and fix a few things..
Saw the Quick Lift 2 tonne jack on the floor and at $269 decided it would be the one!!
The lovely lady there proceeded to let me know that the pre xmas catalogue was coming out tomorrow and the same item would be reduced to $139!!
Guess where Im going first thing in the morning?????

"What do you want for those old rims mate?" Points to GTS rims.
"Take 'em mate, those old things aren't worth anything."

Umm, where to start...

1983 WB ute, pretty much rust free.. only a few dints, had an engine bay fire... and about $2500 worth of parts included.
The body is worth at least $1500

and I paid $1000 for the lot.

1980 WB (Early wb... 2536th built), Again body pretty good... Came with reco Gem Engines 202 (put in less than 4000km ago), full lukey exhaust system including extractors... Great interior...

Paid $300 for the whole car...

I went to see a guy in town here that had a WB, but he crashed it... :( He had some parts that he wanted to get rid of...
He had, Brake shoes, Brake Pads, New discs and drums, Wheel bearings, Rear wheel cylinders, new PBR master cylinder, Idler arm, Hella driving lights, Rechromed headlight inserts, NOS rubber brake hoses, NOS washer bottle/coolant, NOS clutch and accelorator cables, NOS tailight lense and 253 sump and gasket kit...

All for $400...

I bought a fully reco'd 202 and 4speed built by waggot engines in lismore (was rebuilt less than 1000km ago... ) and i paid $80 for the lot... and it came with 2 sets of extractors, full exhaust system, 3 alternators, 2 starter motors and a WB V8 radiator... aswell as a HQ 6cyl radiator....

I think I have done pretty well...
Cheers,
Matt

VP commodore sedan. V6 with AC that worked. Price: $0
Has been burn out car, circle work car,bus stop car. Sump plug fell out, replaced with a shortened bolt. Jacked car up with trolley jack under the front cross member and bent it pushing the radiator up too high so the bonnet won't shut now. Decided the VP was stuffed so sold it.
Sold for.......$300
Nice.
Replaced with a VS commodore on gas with working AC. Price: $0
Wonder if I can repeat the above procedure.

hhmm i cant compete with 83 wb ute but i bought a running driving HZ Wagon as a donor with perfect front clip, perfect front doors, excellent buckskin interior, perfect dash and crash, great bumpers, integrated a/c.

Sold the motor and g/box for $450 (purchaser removed)
A/C for $400 ( i removed - NEVER again!)

the whole bloody thing set me back $300! yyyeeeewwwwww

to anyone doing a resto or doing up a few cars... BUY A DONOR. It'll be the best money youve ever spent.

VP Commodore for $600. Had it for nearly four years as a daily driver and gave nearly no trouble. Looked shit but I wasn't kind to it and it never let me down.
Then sold it for $850
VS Acclaim for $700 replaced the VP and once again didn't give any trouble for the 6 months or so I had it. Love Commodores as a daily, they're disposable haha.

Then there's my WB van which was a straight swap for the above VS. V6 and T700, duel fuel, air, steer. Looks rough but body isn't too bad. And it came with a pink slip.
