    Paint Markings

    G'day; I thought this may be of interest to someone!

    Cleaned 30 years' worth of gunk off the steering box to find a blue stripe:

    Thankyou for these pics!
    My HZ GTS rebuild I am doing all these. I have a truck load of pics of simular ones. Some above I have never seen. The blue on the steering box is something I have never seen.....
    If you find any more please do let me know! Specially because its a HZ and adel built! Same as my GTS.

    looks like a birds been sitting on your diff , are these quality control markings, like the chalk on the fire wall??

    Yes mate they are. Markings to note that each part has been checked. Or tightened.

    Paint marks can also be for warranty purposes as well as the yes I have done it type marks.

    I wonder what the significance of the different blue / green / white colour is (eg: maybe green = torqued bolt / white = fluid fill?)??

    wow i didnt realise these markings meant something i quite often find yellow markings on steering boxes etc i assumed they had either been done by a reconditioner on the boxes and when i find other markings assumed someone had spilt paint or painted the part over the last 40 years
