Clutch Forks.

Can anyone confirm if there is a difference in clutch forks for HQ-J rat trap.

I've had ongoing adjustment issues. I have a HJ V8 with the original rat trap set up but I seem to be 20mm short on the push rod. the clutch fork that is in it has a bend in it that goes away from the rod (to the rear) if it where straight it would be spot on. Hi have a HQ service manual that shows a different looking fork also my Gregory's manual shows a picture of a straight clutch fork. looks like a folded steel one rather than a cast one. I have 3 clutch forks here but they are all the same cast bent one.

I'm doing a bit of home work and I've got tomorrow off so I'll take a pic tomorrow. but so far I think I have a latter model fork but not 100% yet. I need the steel folded looking one.

You may just have an aftermarket one? Do you have the V8 bracket that bolts to the bellhousing? That is the only bit different between 6cyl and V8 in HQ-J rat-traps.

hmm should be but you never know? how do I identify the V8 one? :Chin:

- dam, thought you where on to something. I've found in the Holden service manual a picture of both. the 6 cyl has a tag on the side of the bracket for the relay lever the V8 one the relay lever goes to a hole in the bracket itself. so I can confirm I have the V8 one fitted.

I had problems with my HT when i put a new clutch in it i just couldnt get enough adjustment but it turned out to be the new thrust bearing was shorter than the old one

I have brain strain but I've sorted it! My adaptor bellhousing to bolt the 4 speed to turbo patten block has the pivot ball 20mm to low (to the gearbox side) so the fork is 20mm to far away from the clutch. it has a threaded is pivot ball so I found a bolt with the right thread and cut the head off and welded a pivot ball to it and fitted with a lock nut on the thread at the right hight.
