Need to get a couple of litres of paint for a few odds and sods for the van. Anyone know someone in Victoria that can colour match paint from the van at a reasonable rate?

Depends on where you are
If your near Albury-Wodonga head to Albury Auto Paints in Townsend Street
While on the subject of paint and especially acrylic does anyone on here favour acrylic still over 2-pak, I myself am not convinced that I will go with 2-pak as I hate the orange peel look , much prefer the flat mirror finish of acrylic, I know its chips easier and prone to fading but its not a everyday car and will be garaged and well waxed. Any spray painters I have spoke to try and steer you towards 2pak and talk of the benefits and when I mention the orange peel they tell me it can be buffed back etc but If am yet to see one that has impressed me, I even hate it on the new cars the only benefit I see is a higher gloss around door and archways etc.
I still use acrylic on my cars and get good results. There are many arguments for and against both paint systems.
Acrylic is alot of work to get the gloss and can be done in the home shed.
2pac needs to be done in a booth with all the right breathing equipment.
2 pac is fine by me. I am in Melbourne. - northern suburbs
Why does it need to be colour matched? Was the paint on the van not mixed by formula?
every formula is a bit different to the next. I have seen a couple of HZ models the "same" colour as mine and they are different shades.
Any chance the painter still has the one he used? Spray painter in the panelshop I used to work at kept a diary with every batch he mixed, date and car type/rego. He had about 10 years worth of diary's on the shelf and give him the month the car was painted he could find the formula used in a couple of minutes.
I know that different batches of the same tinters can be marginally different over the years but at least there's a good starting point.
Ian, Distinctive Paints on Old Geelong Rd. Hoppers Crossing is about the best paint mixer I have found in Melbourne. Allison isn't bad at it but for the van you want to talk to Bill, he will take the time to get a perfect match in whatever type of paint you want. Definitely recommend them.
