Destroying NOS parts

I was at a local swap meet today with [MENTION=164]mook[/MENTION] and [MENTION=114]ambientgoat[/MENTION], I was looking at a NOS HZ centre console (for $300) anyway I wasn't interested but over heard a couple blokes talking about the console.
They were nodding and smiling and it looked like they were convincing themselves to buy it.

Out of curiosity I asked them their plans... one fella turned to me and said "We're working out how to cut and modify it to fit a B&M Shifter".

That gentlemen (and ladies) is why good parts are hard to find these days.

I suppose the extension of that is why even remotely original and somewhat rust free panelvans (let alone Sandmans) would probably qualify as an !endangered species!

Got to wonder about some people.... If you're going to cut it up to fit a B&M shifter why wouldn't you just buy a repro console for half the cost.

for that matter why use a console at all as most bm shifters have an indicator and box around them..

Why use a console well maybe that is the look they are after,but in saying that I would build a custom console to suit not a NOS item
