Well Its got a manual so Im assuming its a manual block. Ive never actually had the engine and box apart, I wouldnt actually know the difference to be honest....

As for the cable question, i should probably just get off my arse and jack the car up and get under and see if these things screw into each other... Ill report back.

If the 308 in there now is a TH the EFI engine will bolt straight up using everything off the 308 as is. If it is a manual block then you need another Dellow bellhousing and slightly modify the clutch operation mechanism to suit the slightly different bolt location on the block.

There is some adapter plate on my 308 to make the TH350 that was in it fit. The HQ was originally 4 speed so I'm guessing mine is an Aussie pattern 308 which should just match the M21 I'm putting in. I haven't pulled the auto box off yet but you can have the plate if you need it when I do.

No... haven't even tried. The box was fine when I drove the car back from Melbourne to Canberra. The crossmember, shifter, speedo converter, oil cooler and lines are all with it.

Where are you... might be a bit far away.

You wouldn't use one of those on a manual!

Cool thanks Byron. I wouldnt have a clue what block it is, and I guess I wont really know until I pull the engines out and apart... Are you saying I should/could also keep the current HZ cable ratrap, push clutch setup, bolted to the 304? I could but Id much much rather go to the more civilised full cable setup as per the T5...

I looked at the date too and my HZ is 10/77 so im assuming thats an early HZ, in terms of clutch pedal?

Id love to use the T5 but I just dont want to have that hassle of fitting and/or cutting...

To save cutting, have you considered a T-700?
