HJ, HX, HZ GTS wheel nuts......???

I just won these wheel nuts for the HX and was all excited for a bit until I started thinking about it... How do I know if these are genuine original nuts or some Rare Spares nuts that have been used on a car for a couple of years and then sold??????

Has anyone compared originals to the repro's and is there a noticeable difference??

Nearly bid on those myself. I have a spare bunch but am 5 nuts short. (no jokes please):D:D

I have bought a few of these HZ GTS nuts and there are no part numbers at all on them. I have got a couple of different types as well, both I believe are original.

How to tell. Mmmm, I think the repo ones have a different groove cut into them. It seems to be a squarer cut.

hahahaha....these rally 2 nuts in all styles are so much fun...repro nuts have been around in the usa which is where they came from since around 1990...there is good and bad ones and from what i have collected since the early 90s and hoarded there is around 5 or more types....the current style of the nut pictured is the poorest repro i have ever seen and is of course sold by that company that say you cant restore a car without them...i purchased a set of there nuts and no steal centre caps new at the last torana fest auction for $120...$295 retail...the caps are a real good quality if you dont want original and you dont want them stolen or falling off...AS FOR THE NUTS...the thread wasnt cut properly so they were hard to put on and ive removed them twice and the chrome is coming off...

if you want a decent quality rally 2 nut which is originally from pontiac go to www.usgmsp.com and search the firebird or gto section in wheels...

they are still repros but at least they are of a better quality...i have some of these style repros on my gto and they are nice..

that website ive directed you too is a company called pontiworld in wollongong and i have dealt with him since 1998 and he doesnt sell rubbish...

I bought a set of GTS wheel nuts many many years ago from Zupps so pretty sure they are original... never used them and they have travelled around with me for a long time..... back then I didn't know they were HQ only..... about 8 years ago I got two sets of Nos pontiac nuts from the US and they are identical to the ones from Holden so they are either genuine Nos Pontiac or excellent repro's.

here is a close up of one of my nuts...... :errf:

I know the Rares HQ repro nuts are pretty crappy but how do their HJ-HZ ones compare to originals?

How do the ones pictured that I got off Ebay look? Genuine or repro's? Probably hard to tell from a pic I suppose.

When did they change to the chrome dome type. I though only HZ models had these type?
