Rack and pinion steering, 4 link rear (maybe an IRS rear end) Some wild engine/box/diff combo. Build it to enjoy it.
You better go buy yourself one of these 1:18 scale models cause it's what you've got.

cheers mate, if i cant find the original chassie ill keep the hq one and would like a ls1, manual, and a 9", ill do what i can without modifying the body too bad, yeah ill have to get one, itll look like factory when its done so itll be cool to have a mini ute

I may have changed my tune. Its because I have come to realise that if you are going to pour money into a sandman, make sure its the right one. The one I have is not the right one. Why spend the same money on a non matching numbers car and then have to convince everyone why its cahssis doesnt match.
This is not aimed at Myles in any way. He is going to do a great job on both his utes for sure. I am just not going to go ahead with my HX. I will put my tags in a collection with my XX7 HJ tags.

I can understand "the not pouring money in" thing but if your Sandman is a Sandman but incorrect chassis it is still worth something and still is a cool vehicle regardless. To put the tags into a collection and forget it is not right. It should be out here being loved and admired for what original qualities it has left.

Same to V6HQUTE, the ute you scored still a very cool and desirable car and an original Sandman body so don't listen to the people that say it is "not a Sandman" and that you should give it up. Just understand that it is not a 100% genuine car. If you find an donor HZ ute and get rid of the HQ chassis (it will steer better also with HZ chassis) and then when the Sandman police look at your car you can tell them it is a HZ ute with a Sandman body. You will not be hiding anything or miss representing anything and it will certainly have more value and cred than just a base model mock up.

It's always important to remember that 2 people can have different opinions on something and come at it from a different angel and both have valid points. No one is right and no one is wrong they are just different opinions. We need to respect that in our discussions.

Or swap them with me for something I have that you want! I'll check but I think that HX XX7 tags are actually absent from my collection. I seem to have a heap of HJ and HZ tags but no HX.

BTW, as part of this discussion but not aimed at James I don't have a problem with an original Sandman with a replacement chassis. It just isn't worth what a fully aligned car is worth. If it was me doing it i'd hunt down some naked rails and get them Police number stamped.
