For me its still a Sandman , its just a non matching numbers Sandman, same with people on here restoring Sandman vans without the orignal motor myself included to sum having the original motor maybe be more relevant than having the original chassis. Although in saying that if I was a collector or paying good money for a restored Sandman I would want the lot, chassis and original motor, colour etc to be all matching. To some people these details do not matter they may just love and want it for what it is and arnt to anal about every detail and numbers matching etc. I think its common sense that a Sandman that doesnt have its original chassis isnt going to be worth as much as one that does in the same condition but at the end of the day its still a Sandman in my eyes.
I am not getting into the age old argument of when it is or when it isn't...

Wow. A Jasmine Yellow, Slate Black , 308 4 speed Sandman ute for $300. You lucky bastard! Doesn't matter that it doesn't have the original chassis. That means you can have a bit of fun. Rack and pinion steering, 4 link rear (maybe an IRS rear end) Some wild engine/box/diff combo. Build it to enjoy it.
You better go buy yourself one of these 1:18 scale models cause it's what you've got.

Sweet find young fella! Looks good in it's original outfit too!
The whole numbers thing will never really be solved as ppl will have to just agree to disagree on some
