    Hi V6HQUTE,

    It is great to see an attitude like this! Especially from a young bloke. Agree! Much better to repair/recondition solid original stuff rather than buying reproduced rubbish. You certainly have the skills to do this.

    Keep the photos coming!

    Off coarse you nearly got it right HZ were the best of the series hq to wb after HZ Holden went on cost cutting exercise and left the rear sway bar off and of coarse kept the 308 for statesman not that i'am not happy with 253's personally and of coarse didn't produce sandman's in wb's
    Ah, trying to corrupt the young hey Rodney.
    Sway bars were deemed a waste of time as they only added weight and were a con job to sell HZ. A 253 with a quadrajet produced more HP/CI than a 308......:Chin:..... and so the 308 was assigned to Luxury Cruise Ship (Stato) duties.
    As for WB sandman....... um........... Worlds Best sold them selves without need for a sticker kit........ could be treading on thin ice there so disregard that comment. WB was not at fault for bean counters not offering Sandman option. You cant blame the cars for decisions made by accountants?
    Yet more proof, every original owner of WB traded them in on the "modern" Subaru Brumby. Seen many Brumbies on the road lately? WB's are everywhere still.....they are just so precious the owners cant dare take them out of sheds.
    So undeniable evidence I say.

    And a 5 poster bullbar reduces weight on the WB? I suppose it's almost a necessary item to try and hide the hideous front end.

    Looks like you're supporting our side of the arguement with this statement. You're saying every owner traded in their WB's? I see plenty of Brumbies around here. I've had 3 of them. Unfortunately when I'm short on cash the Brumby is the first to go. They fetch big dollars, are easy to sell and the buyers don't even try to haggle you on the price.

    I think your other thread has lost the road at speed and is off in the weeds somewhere, likely bogged.

    Hopefully we can direct some attention back here;

    You're doing an amazing job to this ute, I wish I could weld like that. I would have been to scared to even start the project with that hole in the tray.
    Keep us posted on the progress. I really look forward to seeing the outcome.

    yeah it has gone off track a bit, theyll sort it out between them selves eventually lol, cheers mate, when we bought the ute i never really thought much about the hole other than to fix it, i havent got any recent pictures, ive just started cutting the hq cowl bonnet lines of and welding it hz ones, i wanted to leave it but dad and the pannel beater, said just to do it, so ive done one side and the other will be done on the weekend, ill keep the hq bonnet lines( the bit i cut out) in the shed, just for a rainy day

    The HQ bar you're chasing, is that to put on the ute? I've got a full length bar that came off a van somewhere but I'm in Canberra which might be a bit far for you. Got any good HQ sedan bootlids (without the hump)?
