just save yourself the agro and buy a correct 6 cyl kit with the right brackets and bolts, spacers and pulley..i sell them for $550 when i have them..you need any hq to wb power steering box with coupling and pitman arm..if you can find a 6 cyl vb vc vh commodore then you get the pump and brackets, bolts and crank pulley from them..there is 2 types of high pressure hoses but you can buy these new..commodore one will not fit..

Do you really need it with a 6 cylinder?

Engine makes no difference to how hard it is to steer. Sports wheel and wider tyres have 5 x as much affect. I put power steer on a 6cyl WB tonner once and it made it a pleasure to drive.

Given the state of the exterior of your van, I'd first start with looking at lubricating and replacing your steering components were required.
Also, id check you have the longer manual steering arms. As Byron said, sports wheels also add to the problem.

I think people forget that we survived years without power steering, it's not an essential. Plus you learn not to scrub tyres in car parks without it.

I have power steer on Mr Beigy... he was a 6 cyl. before, now an 8 and I wouldn't be w/out it. It does make it a lot easier to drive... i've driven 8's w/out and found them heavier... and yes, your wheels can make a huge diff too. There's a complete system for sale on Gumtree: http://vic.gumtree.com.au/c-Cars-Veh...AdIdZ311022780, however, it is for a v8 which I know they're slight different, but thought i'd put it up here anyway in case anybody else is interested.
it's here and I love it!!
