I've got my eye on a WB ute with a busted chassis. Can you give an idea on what's involved in repairs? Would the whole ute need to be dismantled and rebuilt on a new chassis?
Cheers

depends on what you call busted?...if its broken clean thru then yes you would need to put another chassis under it..

ok..so going on his add the ute is out near parkes somewhere but he is on the north shore of sydney...looking at the 1 pic showing the collapsed wheel i would say the top control arm mounts have been sheared off..which ive seen before..he is saying it hit a table drain,if it had of ripped the bottom ball joint out it would have damaged the lower gaurd..if it was close to me i would pay his starting price and wreck it..
so if it does need a chassis replacement its pull bullbar, remove full front panels in 1 peice as a walk off front..remove motor and box, lift body off chassis and remove diff and then put diff into new chassis and put body back on then motor and box and then front back on and then bull bar..then rego it..
just rereading his add..he has it listed as a 71 model..also looking at pics, dash pad looks to be wb statesman..

Thanks for that Oz. Gives me a really good idea of the size of the undertaking.
i would have chassis from hx hz wb..full chassis with front arms and suspension with rear leaf springs $550.
so if you paid 4k and then what i said for chassis plus cost of transport to wherever you are plus rebuild and rego you may as well buy one thats regoed..
