steve..the hq to wb series of wiper motors are the biggest pos since the eh wiper motor..problem is they are in a position that allows them to get wet and the water goes inside to the bottom where the bearing is and they seize..another problem is that because they dont get used they seize as well..
a tip for all is to use your wiper motor on a regular basis wether its raining or not..especially run them after washing the car.
if you are in need of a second hand one i sell good tested working for $95 or rebuilt for $195..usually this is on an exchange basis but for mysandman humans i will do them outright no exchange at this price.
Thankyou for that info and your prices
I know were to get one if the one i found today in the shed stops
The motor that would not work was a lucas, that looked in good condition
On the out side but it got the better of me and i pulled it a part
All the copper wire is burnt out and there was a little copper arm broken of under
The plastic gear
I had a preslite one that i put on and worked but stops were ever when turned off
As i have not driven van in 8 years i cant remember if the wipers should return to bottom of windscreen
Could someone please give me a yes or no on that
Thankyou
Steve
Yep, return to bottom.
so what can i do to the motor to get them to return to the bottom of the screen when turned of?
Have you got the earth stap from the motor body to the fire wall .the return home relies on contacts to the under side of the large cog .I do think the motor would work because it gets it earth via the switching. therefore if the motor is not earthed the return home can not work .that's my take anyway.

I will say from memory, preslite, (with flat plate & no washer pump or hose fitting) on it.
Thanks Max mine does have a preslite but has hose fittings on it
Dont just rely on my geriatric memory!
My 12/76 HX (which Im fairly confident is original) is preslite with washer pump on it, & a couple of 78 HZ's I have (one is definately original) are the later motor with no washer pump, it may have changed over at start of HZ, or might have been phased in when the earlier ones with the pump were used up.
I would just be happy with a wiper motor that works!
& check out cars at shows etc, to make a more educated decision
HZ according to GMH Parts Catalogue has blanking plate (no pump) on either LUCAS or PRESLITE.
