WTB GTS Rims

Hey Guys

I pick up the new Sandman soon so i'm starting to get some bits together one of the main things i'm after are a set of GTS rims if anyones got a set they want to sell let me know.

Buy a set of rims from the 2nd hand newspaper where you live and then paint them up yourself. I did this as a complete novice - see thread in the lounge - Novice Painting. Rims probably around $100/rim (unrestored)

The rims were good fun to learn about paints etc. You can perfect the painting on the back of the rims.

The only thing to look for when you purchase a set of rims is that they are obviously not buckled or dented or that the stud holes are not chopped out.

There are plenty of GTS rims around - all though need blasting and painting.

The only thing I had trouble with was the holden colour codes. The local auto paint shop spent a bit of time hunting around for the formula based on the codes that I had given them. I now have this info and will put up here when I decipher it.

I'll put up some images of my rims when I can work out how to get the damn things off the new telephone.

rhino,i may have an extra set of rims to sell...i have collected a couple of sets of date coded rims over the last few years that are super clean for myself but im not really sure wether i have a set excess to my needs....give me a call to remind me to look at what i have...i do remember buying an hx a couple of years ago purely for the gts rims.and also a hj..both cars were crap but the rims were super clean..i maybe a wrecker but ive got this compulsion to collect stuff for myself and its time to move some on..

I rang a place based in Western Australia but believe they are also in Victoria called Canterbury Tyre and Mag Supamart, they specialise in classic and hard to find wheels and restore them, I rang for a price on 14 x 7 or 14 x 8 gts rims, the ones on their website are chrome but the guy I spoke to said they dont sell them chromed just restored, he quoted $1850 with caps??? , may have to starting looking on ebay for a set to restore.

There are plenty coming up on Ebay all the time... These aren't too bad, sandblasted and re-painted for $625 buy it now in Melbourne.

i paid $880 for a set of 15x7 painted and ready to fit tyres and roll...brand new not reconditioned...no caps no trim rings no buckles...

biggest problem with buying second hand 14x6 rally 2s or gts rims as we call them is they are old and abused and generally buckled or out of shape....

i am almost 100 per cent sure that you can get new rally 2s in 14x6...but i could be wrong...i shall check tomorrow and post up here..

$220ea is a pretty good price.... I guess this guy wants to maximise his profits..
