    hq sandman van

gday all,for sometime now ive been debating wether to restore my hq sandman or sell it...its a chrome yellow black trim 5 litre 4 speed windowless brisbane built..i have been collecting new old stock for 9 years which is the same time ive had it...

well after picking up a new old stock steering column complete and a new old stock gts wiring harness today that nearly completes my nos collection so ive decided i should just restore it...now i just need to find the time to do it..

Hate to be in your shoes...... NOT :knockout:

What are your plans for the one with the chopped roof, it would make a cool custom.

when i bought the hq sandman in 2001 it was going to get a 400 or 455 pontiac and muncie ala the muscle van holden should have built...but over the years the true collectibility of it came to light so i just let it sit and collected new old stock...

when i found the chopped van i figured it could be my pontiac donor..
my son is doing the last year of his mechanics apprenticeship and has started to show interest in doing the chopped one with me.
ive already collected all the pontiac running gear so it will probably get its build late this year hopefully.

plans are more for a burnout/drag van but engineered for the street rather than a full blown show van..

tidy but can be abused and displayed.

the chopped van which consists of hq coupe doors and windscreen and sectional part of roof with van roof being sliced down to meet it by 4 to 6 inches..the tags on this indicate that it may be a hj sandman...or should i say may have been..

the hq sandman...not brilliant pics but this is how it looked when i bought it in 2001 before cleaning it up and disassembling the rest of it to store and collect stuff...i payed 2k for it as a basic rolling shell which everyone thought i was mad to pay that much but even as a windowless hq body which only has 2 small spots of rust i figured it was a fair price...tags have never been removed and even when i restore it i will not remove them...just me..

Damn that HQ is in good nik, I'd forgotten how good it was.

I love that chopped van, it has been really well done and looks good with the coupe doors... all the mods just work really well together. It will be one neat van when finished.

chrome yella is a great colour i reckon. + 5 LT 4 sp, great
it shouldn't be hard for you to make it original with all the bits under the sun.,

looks like your doors had ash trays, did all HQ sandmans have them?.
    not really a belmont thing.
My two HJ sandmans have ash trays also...?
    what do you think?
