Anybody ever had there gas tanks tested?

My van has dual gas tanks that are out of date and I was wondering if anyone had there tested/inspected and restamped. A few years ago when I made this enquiry to a gas shop they told me that they just replaced them because it was too much stuffing around. cheers

I've had tanks tested in the past, there are two types of testing required both of these tests occur at different times through the life of the tank.

    1. Hyrdo test which is done every 5 years, (varies from State to State). This is a pressure, seal and valve test.

    2. Certification test done every 10 years, I do not know what is involved but it has been recommended to seek a replacement as the costs involved can be beneficial to replacing the tank rather than testing.
I assume this depends how the tank is installed and hours required to replace and fit.

this is for nsw...i had a tank done last year from my 93 vr ute...same tank thats been in it since 93 when it was in sa...when it came to nsw in 99 it had to be inspected i presume for nsw rego as that was on the plate in the engine bay..cost me $175 to get it inspected which all they do is look inside it with a mirror and make sure it isnt rusty..we did remove it and replace it ourselves which you are not suppose to do but i know the gas guy...no 5 year tests in nsw only 10 year..
