Hi,
Does anyone know the paint that was used on the HQ Headlight bezels and grille blackouts. The only origional ones I have seen seem to be more matt black than the Tuxedo Black used on the body.

I repainted mine years ago and to the best of my memory they were a matt finish, but jeez 29 years makes you nervous to swear on it.

Correct for HQ to HZ.
Low gloss black was used for the headlight and grill blackouts, instrument fascia and lower panel, upper dash panel (the metal part with the speaker grill in it), windscreen pillar covers and a couple of other bits.
Medium gloss was used for the glovebox lid and lower dash, console, steering cover etc.

I went to my local GMH dealer today and asked the PPG Paint guy if he could tell me the HZ GTS grill colour. He seemed to know a bit about old Holdens. His guess was that the colour would actually be Low gloss Tuxedo Black. It makes sense. I'll give him the code above and see what he makes of it.
Thanks Absinth.
