So all Holdens from Adelaide fall into this category? That should confuse peiople in 50 years time
Yes mate it confuses the heck out of people already.
I got told by a few people that the HX sandman van I just sold had mis matched plates. because it was HX and it was adel built the body number did not match the VIN. But this is perfectly normal for an adel built car upto early HZ. I think it was around 10/77 ish they started the matching number thing......

Brissy etc matched their bodys and VIN numbers back in HQ ish era. Adel where just a little behind.

Just saw this post. I don't think it should ever cause any confusion, as in the wider picture for the more valuable Holdens and Toranas the numerical part of the PSN normally doesn't match the BODY number. It's really only a 1973ish onwards thing and only from some plants. The main reason I can see that Elizabeth didn't change to the matching BODY and PSN setup was because they were building bodies for Dandenong and Pagewood hence they'd have had big gaps in their PSN numbering. As the records were listed by PSN it would have created a problem for them. I don't think it is a coincidence that Pagewood and Dandenong commercial production ceased pretty close to the time that Elizabeth started using PSN's as BODY numbers.
