As long as you run a 12v supply to it instead of using the yellow wire (9v).

thanks for that, how is the voltage at the end of the yellow wire dropped to 9v? inline resistor somewhere or type of wire used?

It's what they call a "resistive" wire.
Never pulled one apart to find out how they did it though.

It is a nichrome wire built into the harness. You need an original WB HEI coil, find on any VC-VL (not 6cyl VL). To get 12V to the coil just bridge the start and run wires prior to the ignition switch (go to coil as pink and yellow). This way there will always be 12V at the coil.

I did something like the above using the exsiting wiring to 12v system but ended up with voltage drop to about 10v thought the wire system whilst the motor was turning over and van was hard to start and would fire when I let the key off.I ended up putting a relay on 9v wire and run a supply 12v wire direct from the battery. startes alot better, but if bridging the wires work that would be realy easy. Hi Sorry to sound silly but where exactly do we bridge these wires ? are they in the Engine bay loom ?

Appreciate your help (I'd like to get rid of my relay)

    Cheers
